Texture and DT Call

Good Morning, Everyone

Well, when  I was challenged to make a texture card

by Ryan as part of my application for

this is what I came up with. I hope you like it.
I have added loads of "details" pics for detail
junkies such as myself!

M and M
(Materials and Method)

I started with a base of an A4 sheet of corrugated cardboard
from packaging I had received with a purchase.
(Crafty goodies what else?)lol xx

I then cut a panel of hessian (USA =burlap?)  and I attached it to the
corruguted cardboard but I left it over the edges as I not only love that effect but
I wanted a frame that, while textured was not too structured.

I then took an A4  sheet of  navy card, wrapped the top two thirds with
webbing, the bottom third with metal mesh. I attached these at
the rear of the card but did not attach at the front as, again,
I  wanted to add an unstructured feel and to give more depth.

I used the galleon stamp from Nautical Journey rubber stamp set, to
make impressions into different media.

In keeping with my unstructured, texture theme I wanted them
not too look to perfect and I am delighted I managed to get
them looking quite rugged and have use parts of the process
to add to the texture. Just to ground them a bit I used
white picket fence lightly on the sails just here and there.

I used different mixed of silver mica powder, silver embossing powder, utee
just straight onto card (over my craft mat!) just to get a variety of textures.
(veeeerrrrrreeeee messy LOVE IT! )

I cut them roughly but keeping the general shape of the lovely original stamp.

I used some Adirondack Cooredinations papers in two shades of aqua
to hint at seas, skies etc. I tore them both roughlly and left one plain
but embossed (Flora M-bossabilities) and sanded the other.
I joined these and attached them across the part of my card where the webbing
meets the mesh.

I attached the ship images using high foam mounts to sit very
proud of the waves and the card!

Those of you who are musical (or just have good eyesight!) will
have noticed that the words of my traditional carol do not
match the music!! Well I printed out the words from the first
verse of the carol using Word and then tore into strips, inked with antique linen and attached to music sheet.
The music was a sheet  in a Christmas themed 12 x 12 pad whch

I tore down and inked, then attached using medium height foam pads.

The little musical angel was cut from a different 12 x 12 collection, I trimmed him and
inked him with antique linen, shaped him and
attached to thecarol with high foam pads.

I added a little embroidered red flower to his robe and
another one to the opposite corner of the the carol.

I used a brass snowflake from the vintage range and used
picket fence ink to alter it and atached it close to the card.

I cut some glassine paper (previously crumpled, inked and heated)

with foliage die and placed these to give impression of seaweed. I added some
shells and pearls.

The ribbon I made using one of my favourite techniques of mixing
ribbon and other fibres in my bows. Here I have
used antique lace, vintage ribbon, hairy string,
florist's ribbon, twill ribbon cut down the middle
and tied them into a bow, twisted the florist ribbon and added
a wooden snowflake to finish.

Affectionately, Vee xx
