I have had some lovely little wooden shapes for ages. there are a few different
shapes and I have been meaning to use them but
something always seems to get in the way!!
I know that many of you will recognise that!!
However, a series of events led to my being able
to use one of them (yay) and this is the result.
I hope you like it because now I have used one
I will probably do them all the time now!!
M & M
(Materials and Method)
I used a slim rectangular wooden shape measuring 6 inches x 4.5inches (15cm x 12cm)
which I painted with Picket Fence Distress Stain by Tim Holtz.
I deliberately went for a light coverage so as to leave that kind of stripped wood effect and it worked quite well. This is a very addictive product so be warned!
I also wanted to use the lovely wavy rectangle by Chris of
And a lovely rose digi by Marie of
I coloured the rose (I just love the little hearts as buds) yellow using prima pens.
These pens have been so neglected since I have been
using Promarker pens more these days but
they are really lovely to use and I have had these sets
for several years!!
I liked the wavy frame on-line but once I printed it I could see the full effect
of the arresting border and decided to use two sizes
of the frame. I printed it onto smooth inking card.
I inked around the perimeters of each size in black.
Since I wanted to layer the frame I kept the inside part intact.
I inked around the perimeters of each size in black.
Since I wanted to layer the frame I kept the inside part intact.
I layered the base frame to the painted board with double sided
tape and a little bit of glue dotted around for security!
I placed the smaller frame centrally
and mounted it with a large piece
of double sided foam sheet to sit
proud of the first frame.
I cut out the rose and placed it centrally using
glue stick as I wanted it to sit flat.
I threaded some white satin ribbon
through the holes which were already
drilled in the shape and tied little bows to
the ends for interest.
I used both glue and tape on
the back as I did not want the
bows to be pulled through the holes. You could always just thread
the ribbon and tie it and attach two bows separately. I just wanted it this
way and once I get an idea in my head I must go
with it or bust!
(If using something without holes you could
just attach hanging material to back. I have done that
with other things and it works just as well.)
You could allso just use a picture hook
or leave it free standing (well, leaning!)
Affectionately
Vee xx
