Birds Wall Hanging

Hello, All
I thought I would share a wall hanging I made for the challenge at Country View Crafts Challenge Blog where the topic this month is


Here's what I did. 
I took a wooden heart ..


 Some gesso and paints ...

 I was aiming for a sky effect in the background so I applied gesso to the heart not being very smooth  ...

 Then used the paint dabber making sure that some gesso is showing through here and there and leave to dry ....

I wanted to apply a stencil and used clear paste mixed with paint ...

 Mmmm lovely mess!

Place stencil where wanted ...

 Apply paste through stencil ...

 Leave to dry ...

I cut some leaves with die and waxed kraft paper, chopped and shaped to suit ...

I used a sentiment from Creative Expressions shown here on card but in the end I stamped it straight onto the heart.

To finish I attached leaves, metal leaf and metal dragonfly, threaded through some fabric trimming to hang.
